What is the SEED Program?

SEED is a highly specialized program that applies to energy management the same proven business consulting techniques found in management systems such as ISO 9000+ or ISO 14000+ and continuous improvement methodologies like those used in Six Sigma, LEAN Manufacturing, and TQM.  The program results in improved energy management policies, procedures, and practices – as well as identification of energy efficient technology upgrade opportunities.

Why EnVINTA?

EnVinta is a world leading developer of energy and environmental management solutions.  Different from most service providers in the energy space, we are a spin-off of a management consulting practice and not an engineering firm.  As such, we approach energy management from a business strategy point of view, rather than from the typical technical or engineering approach.      [top]

Why the SEED Program?

Sustainable, long-term reduction in energy costs requires attention to both the efficiency of energy-using assets and the business practices in place to optimize the performance of those assets.   In a study released in 2006, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) estimates that 30% of all potential energy savings in the manufacturing sector are available from improved business practices - exactly the focus area of the SEED Program.     [top]

How does the SEED Program work?

The one-day set of activities begin with a brief 1.5 hour workshop session with the site management team using the One-2-Five Energy tool to walk through current business practices as they pertain to energy consumption at the site. We then conduct a high-level technical walk through of the site, to validate the findings of the workshop sessions, observe business practices in action, and identify potential technical and hardware efficiency improvement opportunities. At the conclusion of the day, we reconvene the site management team to present all findings and conduct a planning session to construct an implementation timeline and assign responsibilities for tasks and deliverables.  At the end of the day, you have a detailed roadmap for improving the efficiency of your energy-using assets AND the effectiveness of your energy-using asset management practices.  The SEED Program even has some funding available to provide consultative support should you need further outside resources to assist in implementing some of the opportunities identified.     [top]

What does the SEED Program cost?

Nothing.  The SEED Program is funded by California utility customers and administered by Southern California Edison Company (SCE®) under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission, through a contract awarded to EnVinta. California customers who choose to participate in this program are not obligated to purchase any additional services offered by the contractor.
